Privacy Policy
This document sets out how the Skoop Filters browser extension (the “Extension”) handles data, in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR). The Greek text is the official version.
Notice: zero data collection. The Extension has no server, accounts, analytics, ads or trackers. The controller receives none of your data: whatever the Extension stores stays in your browser. The only network traffic is requests to www.skroutz.gr, which it makes to load the Skoop pages you view or watch.
The Extension is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Skroutz.
1. Scope and Modifications
This Policy covers the Skoop Filters Extension for Chrome and Firefox and the website skoopfilters.vspapg.gr. Installing and using the Extension means you have taken note of this Policy.
The Policy may change, for example when features or legislation change. Each new version is published on this page with a new version number and effective date. For material changes in the data the Extension handles, the release notes will say so.
2. Data Controller Identity
- Name:
- Παπαγρηγορίου Βασίλειος Σάββας (Vasilis Savvas Papagrigoriou)
- Legal status:
- Natural person, independent developer
- Jurisdiction:
- Hellenic Republic
- Address:
- Rhodes, postal code 85101, Greece
- Email:
- vasilispapg@outlook.com
3. Categories and Nature of Data
3.1 Data that is NOT collected
The Extension does not collect or send to anyone (including the controller): your name, email, address, payment details, passwords or credentials, browsing history, device or advertising identifiers, IP address, or any personal content of the pages you visit. There is no profiling, tracking or telemetry.
The content script is loaded on www.skroutz.gr but only activates and reads content on Skoop listing pages. The Extension has no access to other websites.
3.2 Data stored locally in your browser
The following is stored in your browser profile’s storage.local and is not sent anywhere by the Extension:
- Appearance settings: text size, card size, density and toggles.
- Saved filters per listing, as you named them.
- Item cache: public details of the Skoop listings you have seen (title, price, condition, category, dates, specifications, description and seller name as publicly shown on the listing) and their price history.
- Listing cache: the cards of the last scan, so refreshing is fast.
- Notifications: the name you set, filters, check interval and hours, target price, last check status and a short notification history.
- Operational data: e.g. when the last scan happened, so listings you have already seen are not shown as “new”.
The Extension does not sync this data to other devices. If your browser syncs extension data, that is done by the browser vendor under its own policy.
3.3 Communication with skroutz.gr
The Extension makes HTTPS requests exclusively to https://www.skroutz.gr (Skoop listing and item pages). Requests behave like a normal browser navigation, so the skroutz.gr cookies your browser already has travel with them. The Extension does not read, store or forward them. Skroutz processes these requests as an independent controller under its own policy.
No requests are made to any other server. The support links (Revolut, Buy Me a Coffee) are plain links: they open only when you click them and the Extension sends nothing to them.
3.4 Extension permissions
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
storage, unlimitedStorage | Local storage of settings, filters, notifications and cache (the cache can exceed the default quota). |
alarms | Scheduling the periodic notification checks. |
notifications | Showing desktop notifications. |
offscreen (Chrome only) | Parsing HTML pages in the background, because Chrome’s service worker has no DOM. |
Access to https://www.skroutz.gr/* | To run on Skoop and check the listings you watch. |
4. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR Article 6)
Because the Extension’s data never reaches the controller, processing happens solely on your device at your own initiative. To the extent the GDPR applies:
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Local operation of the Extension (settings, cache, saved filters, notifications) | Article 6(1)(b): performing the function you ask for. The data stays on your device. |
| Desktop notifications | Article 6(1)(a): consent through the browser’s notification permission. Withdrawable at any time in browser settings or by deleting the notification. |
| Requests to skroutz.gr | Article 6(1)(b): necessary for the function you ask for (loading Skoop pages). Skroutz is an independent controller. |
| Visits to skoopfilters.vspapg.gr | Article 6(1)(f): legitimate interest in security and reliable operation. The site is static, with no cookies or analytics. The hosting provider may keep standard server logs (e.g. IP, time) for security under its own policy. |
5. Data Recipients and Third Parties
The Extension has no data recipients. It uses no processors, advertising networks or analytics services, and does not sell, transfer or use data for advertising or any other purpose. The Extension makes no transfers of data outside the EU/EEA.
- Skroutz: receives the requests described in 3.3, as an independent controller.
- Chrome Web Store and Mozilla Add-ons: distribute the Extension and may give the developer aggregate install statistics without personal data. Their policies apply.
- Revolut and Buy Me a Coffee: only if you choose to support development voluntarily. Their own policies apply.
6. Data Retention
- Settings, saved filters and notifications: until you delete them or uninstall the Extension.
- Item cache: records of items not seen for more than 60 days are deleted automatically.
- Listing cache: keeps up to 8 listings and discards anything older than 6 hours.
- Notification history: the latest 20 entries per notification.
When you uninstall the Extension, the browser deletes all of its data.
7. Data Subject Rights
The controller holds no data about you, so there is nothing to hand over or delete on their side. You exercise your rights (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection) directly on your device: delete individual filters and notifications from the Extension UI, and everything by uninstalling or from your browser settings.
For any question contact vasilispapg@outlook.com. You may lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (Kifissias Ave. 1-3, 115 23 Athens, www.dpa.gr) or with the supervisory authority of your EU member state of residence.
The Extension makes no decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal effects for you (GDPR Article 22).
8. Minors
The Extension is not directed at children and collects data from no one, including minors.
9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
- Governing law:
- Greek law
- Exclusive jurisdiction:
- Courts of Athens
